In partnership with parents providing high quality care and education within the early years foundation stage.

Welcome to our website

Market Weighton Pre-School has been open Market Weighton Pre-school Room 1for over 25 years. It is run by a friendly dedicated team of staff and parent volunteers. We are members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance and have charitable status. We aim to provide high quality care and education for children within the early years foundation stage and work in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop. The Pre-school caters for children aged two years and above. By choosing Market Weighton Pre-school, your child is in a safe and stimulating environment and has the chance to join in with other children and adults to play and learn together. We are registered with Ofsted and in a recent inspection we are pleased to say we gained a ‘good’. All policies are available for you to read at the pre-school if you so wish.

Staff to Child Ratios

Our adult to child ratio is one adult to 4 children under 3 years of age, one adult to 8 children 3 years and older as a bare minimum.

At the pre-school we try to encourage positive behaviour by encouragement and praise. Inappropriate behaviour is discouraged by explanation and talking about the situation that has arisen. When there is recurring unacceptable behaviour we will try and resolve the situation by working together with parents and carers.

Health and Safety

  • staff must be notified of any medical condition and/or medication taken.
  • children with infectious illnesses must not attend.
  • children with sickness and diarrhoea must not attend for at least 48hrs
  • staff will only administer medication prescribed by the doctor with the parent/carers permission.
  • accident records are kept and signed by a member of staff and also signed by the parent/carer upon collection of their child/children.
  • the pre-school has a strict no smoking policy. Smoking is not allowed in the Community Hall premises.

Compliments and Concerns

It is our duty to constantly improve our Pre-school to provide the best possible childcare for each child. You can help us to do this by letting us know about what you are happy with and where you have concerns. Should you wish to talk about any aspect of our setting then please feel free to speak to any member of our staff or any of the committee members who will advise you about what to do if any action needs to be taken. A copy of our complaints procedure can be collected from a member of staff.

Please do use any of the contact methods available on our Contact us page, if you have any compliments or concerns that you would like to share with the Pre-School.

Milk and water will be available for each child at snack time. Water will be available at all times throughout the session. We will encourage healthy eating e.g. crackers and cheese, fruit, breadsticks, carrot, cucumber sticks, soft cheese etc. If your child has any specific dietary requirements we will always do our best to cater for their needs.

We have Market Weighton Pre-School t-shirts which are available to buy for your child. They are £4.50 each. The children are not obliged to wear our T-shirts.
